Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
What happens once we make contact with you about hiring your company?
The first step is to check our availability. If we are not available during the dates you are going to be away we will provide you with the names of other possible pet sitters.
If we are available, we will work with you to set a meeting in your home to meet you and your pet(s), review your service needs, review our Client & Pet Profile/Services Agreement and get acclimated to where things are located in your home. There is no charge for this meeting.
Are you bonded and insured?
Yes. Like virtually all professional pet and house sitters, we are bonded and insured
for liability by Business Insurers of the Carolinas, who offer bonding and insurance
to professional pet sitters. Your pets and home are two very important things in
your life and most people prefer to leave their care in the hands of professionals,
when they need to be away
Are you members of your industry’s leading, national professional association?
Yes, we are members of the Pet Sitters International (PSI). As PSI members we have made an investment in providing professional services to our clients and our business. We can network with pet sitters across the country to share ideas, ask questions, and stay informed about new developments in the pet sitting industry. We also support and adhere to the PSI Pledge of Professional Conduct and have access to continuing education programs and resources that we use to help us take the very best care of your pets and home.
Do you care for my pets in our home?
Yes. Our principals provide all of our pet care services (sorry but we don’t care for dogs, large animals or sometimes pets needing extensive medications) in your home where your pets feel the most safe, secure and comfortable. Cats in particular are often highly stressed by kenneling so it is an act of kindness and love to have them cared for in your home when you are away.
Who will have access to my home?
Our principals, Gary and Suzanne Adams, are bonded and insured professionals who provide all the services to our clients. We will be the only persons accessing your home to care for your pets and home while you are away. Your house key will not have your information attached to it. It is coded and kept in a safe place in our home along with your client profile information.
How long are your visits to our home?
Our visits typically range from 40 minutes to one hour or more. However, since all clients have somewhat different needs, we work with you to create a customized pet and house care plan designed to suit your requirements. We focus on the tasks required to take good care of your pets and home not on the time spent per visit. We do not offer overnight and live-In services but can refer you to others who do.
How many visits a day will you make to my home?
The number of visits we make per day is up to you. Cats and small caged animals are usually one to two visits daily. We will make as many daily visits as requested for you to feel good about the safety and care of your pets and home. Most animal behavior experts believe it is important for their overall health for cats and small caged animals to have at least one visit daily when their family is away. So, that is our minimum requirement.
Should we make reservations?
Yes. Please reserve our services as far in advance as possible but no later than one week before you are planning to leave on your trip. Holidays and weekends are the busiest times so the sooner the better for reservations during these periods, to insure that we will be available to provide our services. Cancellations should be made a minimum of one week prior to our first scheduled service date.
What if our travel arrangements change and we are away longer than expected?
We ask that you notify us of any departure or arrival home schedule changes ASAP so that we can plan accordingly. Our primary concern is the safety of your pet(s) and home.
When and how do I pay for your services?
You will be billed via email within one week of our last service date and payment in full is due within 10 days of our invoice date. Please pay by check payable to Exceptional Pet & House Sitting Plus, LLC.
Do you provide service on holidays?
Yes, we provide our services on all holidays at no extra charge.
What are your business hours and contact information?
Office hours for phone calls (978-241-9450) and emails (sue@gndhome.com) are Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm; Sundays from 1:30 pm to 5 pm. Text us anytime at 978-697-1991.
